Koa's offers two fundamentally different ways to staff an event bar: use the venue's existing setup with professional bartenders, or bring the full Koa's Mobile Bar experience.
Neither option is automatically better. The right choice depends on what the venue already provides and how visible you want the bar to be in the guest experience.
Choose bartender-only service when the venue already solved the physical setup
Bartender-only service makes sense when the venue has an appropriate built-in bar, a rental bar is already included, or the host has created a functional beverage station.
You are paying for professional service and planning without transporting a second physical bar that the event does not need.
Bartender-only is usually strongest when:
- The existing bar has enough work surface and guest-facing space.
- Ice, mixers and backup inventory can be staged nearby.
- The venue has already approved the service location.
- The bar fits the event design without additional styling.
- Trailer access would be difficult or unnecessary.
Choose the full mobile bar when the bar itself needs to become part of the event
The Koa's Mobile Bar creates a dedicated service point instead of relying on a folding table or improvised station. That can be valuable at private properties, outdoor venues and locations without an existing guest-facing bar.
The trailer also creates a clear visual destination: guests know where to order, and the bar can become part of the overall event setup rather than something hidden in the background.
The full mobile bar is usually strongest when:
- The venue has no appropriate physical bar.
- The host wants the bar to be part of the décor and guest experience.
- The property can accommodate trailer access and placement.
- The event needs a dedicated service point separate from catering.
- The setup is outdoors or in a flexible event space.
What stays the same in both options
The service still needs to be planned around guest count, menu complexity, service time, venue logistics and the dry-bar model. You still need an alcohol purchasing plan, service supplies, ice, mixers and a staffing level appropriate to the event.
That is why “bartender-only” should not be interpreted as simply hiring someone to stand behind a table. The operational planning remains important even when the physical bar is already there.
Compare the decision side by side
| Question | Bartender-only | Full mobile bar |
|---|---|---|
| Venue already has a good bar? | Often the best fit. | May be unnecessary. |
| No guest-facing bar available? | Requires another suitable setup. | Solves the physical bar problem. |
| Bar should be a visual feature? | Depends on venue/rental design. | Strong fit. |
| Trailer access is difficult? | Strong fit. | May not be feasible. |
| Private property or flexible outdoor venue? | Possible with a proper service station. | Often useful when access allows. |
How pricing differs
Koa's publishes mobile-bar package starting prices of $1,500, $2,000 and $2,500 depending on the beverage-service package. Bartender labor is listed separately at the current published hourly rate per bartender, and travel beyond the included radius is added according to the current mileage policy.
A bartender-only quote therefore removes the mobile-bar package when the physical trailer is not needed, while still accounting for staffing, travel and the service scope required for the event.
Use the venue to make the decision
Before choosing, send Koa's a photo or description of the venue's bar area. It is much easier to recommend the correct service format when we know what work surface, storage and guest-facing setup already exists.
